Phambili Mzansi

Dear Phambili Mzansi Igniters

On the 30th of May 2017 Phambili Mzansi hosted an Intimate Conversation geared towards Integrated Medicine and the future of mental health in South Africa. “Integrated Medicine” is an approach to medical treatment and care whereby all different forms of healing are incorporated and used appropriately. In South Africa, there is an enormous range of treatment options from Western medical doctors to African traditional healers, homeopathy and more. Integrated Medicine aims to combine all these healing systems to provide the patient with holistic healthcare that treats the patient as an individual with their own physical, psychological, and social health barriers, concerns, and problems.

The Intimate Conversation that was held in Johannesburg focused on using an Integrated Medicine approach to tackle the topic of “Mental Health amongst South African Youth”. The evening was a great success with a fantastic panel discussion followed by lively discourse and pragmatic solutions on the issues that face South African youth with regard to mental health. There were a variety of solutions proposed to alleviate these problems that all ensured that holistic Integrated Medicine was the way forward. The Phambili Mzansi team would also like to take this opportunity to thank all relevant stakeholders and young people that attended, and a special thank you to our wonderful panelists: Claudia Mosman, Gogo Dineo Ndlanzi, Karon Wilson, and Shehnaz Munshi.

We are excited to announce that after the success of the Johannesburg event and massive interest in the topic after our radio discussion on SAFM, there will be another episode of the Phambili Mzansi Intimate Conversation on Mental Health. This event will take place in Cape Town later this year with more details to follow soon! We are certain that the Cape Town episode will deliver the same high standard of discussion, open-mindedness and willingness to learn, and create further pragmatic solutions in order to bring about positive authentic change.

We thank you all for your constant support and willingness to contribute. Help us move South Africa forward and share any thoughts, ideas, or feedback with us.

Dear Phambili Mzansi Igniters

It is with great excitement to announce that we will be hosting our first Intimate Conversation of 2017 on the 30th of May. The focus will be on _Mental_ _Health_ _of_ _South_ _African_ Youth_

We strongly believe that a core component to developing a country is to ensure physically, mentally, and emotionally healthy citizens. With approximately 1/6 South Africans suffering from a mental illness each year, it is vital that we start addressing this issue.

Phambili Mzansi aims to solve African problems with African solutions and it is for this reason that we are using Integrated Medicine to approach mental health. Integrative medicine is a form of healing and treatment that incorporates all different forms of medicine ranging from Western medicine to homeopathy and traditional healers.

Help us #MoveAfricaForward by joining the conversation and letting us know your thoughts on the topic!

#RememberWhyWeStarted ✊🏾Dear Phambili Mzansi Igniters

We'd like to thank you for all the support you have given us this past year as we seek solve Africa's most pertinent issues via Intergenerational Conversation.

We've had an interesting year thus far, and whilst we may have been silent for a bit of time, there is a lot happening in and around us.

So let us update you on the progress of our flagship project of 2016 - The Intimate Conversation Series: Dealing with Higher Education.
• All the proposed solutions put together by academics, business and student leaders alike have been compiled into an official document which is now ready for your perusal.
• Given the state of Higher Education in South Africa, and the protests surrounding it, our meeting with the DHET has been POSTPONED/SET TO the end of March 2017. As mentioned, this meeting was to present our findings and aid the industry to implement OUR solutions to the current Crisis in our land - after all, Phambili Mzansi is about ACTIONABLE solutions above and beyond our conversations.

Secondly, 2017 is sure to bring out more in Phambili Mzansi as we push the vision forward and #RememberWhyWeStarted_ - Our intimate conversation series continues as we focus on Healthcare in the first quarter of the year as well as moving towards an emphasis on entrepreneurship. We've decided to take aspects of our Inaugural Indaba and implement them in smaller pieces as we build up to the big event.

Finally, 2016 would not have been possible without the effort of every one of you - to put that in perspective, here is our year in review: We held the Intimate Conversation Pt 1 & 2 in JHB and CT respectively and we hosted the ITSALLME Woman's Day High Tea. In the midst of this we created solutions and also contributed significantly to The Red Wings Project.

As the year is well into the 1st quarter, we hope that you continue to stick around with us into 2017! We've grown in presence. we've learnt from our experience. we've served our people. Whatever the following year holds in store for us, we are certain that we'll be ready.

Will you Join us?

Have a great great week, we look forward to serving you in 2017.

Regards
The Phambili Mzansi Team
